Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in Fort Worth & Across Texas

DBT was originally developed for people who experience emotions intensely — where feelings come on fast, hit hard, and take a long time to come back down. It was built for people who have tried to manage their emotional life and found that standard advice doesn't work, that most coping strategies weren't designed for how they experience the world.

At Mindful Possibilities, DBT is one of our most-used and most rigorously applied therapeutic approaches. We don't offer a watered-down version. We have clinicians with advanced training and certification in the model.

What DBT Addresses

Emotional dysregulation and intense mood swings, self-harm and suicidal ideation, impulsive behavior, relationship instability, borderline personality disorder (BPD), eating disorders, substance use, PTSD, and anyone who feels like their emotions run their life rather than the other way around.

The Four DBT Skill Areas

DBT is structured around four core skill areas: Mindfulness — learning to observe your experience without reacting; Distress Tolerance — getting through a crisis without making things worse; Emotion Regulation — understanding and changing your emotional responses; and Interpersonal Effectiveness — navigating relationships in ways that actually work. These skills are practical, teachable, and designed to be used in real life.
