EMDR Therapy in Fort Worth & Across Texas

If you've tried talking about a traumatic experience and found that it doesn't seem to get anywhere — that you can describe what happened in detail but still feel just as activated, just as stuck — EMDR might be what's been missing.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is one of the most well-researched trauma treatments available. It works differently from traditional talk therapy. Rather than analyzing what happened or working to change how you think about it, EMDR helps the brain finish processing experiences that got stuck — so they lose their charge and stop driving your symptoms.

What EMDR Treats

EMDR was originally developed for PTSD, but research has expanded its application significantly. We use it for single-incident trauma, complex and developmental trauma, anxiety and panic, phobias, grief, performance anxiety, and disturbing memories that continue to affect daily functioning.

What to Expect

EMDR involves bilateral stimulation — typically eye movements, taps, or tones — while you hold a target memory or experience in mind. This process helps the brain reprocess the memory so it can be stored without the same emotional intensity. Sessions are structured but follow your pace. Most clients find that memories lose their emotional charge over the course of treatment without requiring extensive verbal processing.

Our EMDR Therapists

Nona Perry, LCSW is EMDR Certified — a distinction that goes beyond basic training and requires documented clinical hours, supervision, and continuing education. She also offers EMDR Intensives, which are extended sessions designed for clients who want to move through the processing work more efficiently than weekly sessions allow.

Madeline James, LPC, Gabriela Padilla, LPC and Robert Boes, LCSW-S are also trained in EMDR and incorporate it into trauma treatment as appropriate.

In-Person & Virtual

EMDR is available in person at our Fort Worth office and virtually for clients across Texas.
